[edit] ISP Usenet Providers

Below is a list of ISPs (Internet Service Providers) which have Usenet capabilities. You will be able to use these capabilities provided you are a customer of that ISP. Please note that this list is far from complete, but you can likely find out if your ISP has Usenet capability by visiting their website and doing some searching. You may also want to take a look at the Premium Usenet Providers list.

Notes: About 90% of the information listed here is based off of user experience with these ISPs' Usenet services. Most of the information here is not listed on the homepage of the ISP. B = bytes, b = bits (e.g. KBps = Kilobytes per second, kbps = kilobits per second). For ISPs in which there is no login or password, authentication is done through your IP address. Thus, to access the service you have to a customer of the respective ISP.


Definitons of terms of phrases used on this page:
"Acceptable Use Policy" - your download quota and/or speed is subject to policies related to the ISP
"Fair Use Policy" - same as "Acceptable Use Policy"
"ISP account info" - server requires your respective ISP e-mail and password to login
"ISP service quota" - the download limit for usenet is most likely unlimited, but you are limited by the quota which is enforced on your overall service
"Modem Limit" - your download speed is limited to the speed of your overall service
"Local" - a connection is made from within the network, i.e. the IP you connect with is from the respective ISP
"Primary account info" - server requires your respective ISP e-mail and password for the account you signed up with the ISP to login
"Remote" - a connection is made from outside the network, i.e. the IP you connect with is not from the respective ISP
"Varies with package" - your usenet download quota and/or download speed is determined by the service package you purchased from the ISP
